A judge in the US has ordered Time Warner Cable to pay a woman $229,500 for harassing her with automated ‘robocalls’.
Araceli King, a Texas resident, received 153 such robocalls, and they continued even after she asked the firm to stop.
Alvin Hellerstein, the US district judge, said the company had acted in an “egregious” manner. Time Warner Cable is reviewing the ruling before deciding its next move.
Companies making unwanted computer-controlled calls in the US can be fined $1,500 per call.
