Urine-powered cell phones to be developed
July 22 , 2013
British scientists reported they have been able to harness the power of urine and a cell phone could be charged with it enough to send text messages as well as to surf the internet. Researchers in the southwest England have said that they were able to use the bacteria to break down urine in order to generate electricity, as reported by Fox News. Engineer Loannis Leropoulos said that this is an exciting discovery since nothing of this sort has been found before and that the beauty of the discovery is that we’d be using waste to create energy.
Leropoulos said that the concept has been tested and it works. Now it only needs to be refined so MFCs could be developed in order to fully charge a battery.
