UConn commencement speech to come from space

  • Alumnus Rick Mastracchio of the University of Connecticut was supposed to address his old school of engineering in person but it appears that he'll be orbiting the globe on May 10 instead.

Hence the 54-year-old astronaut has now sent his speech from space and the recorded video will be seen by nearly 5k people at the ceremony. Media reports indicate that the alum has already recorded his address and sent it to NASA but the dean remains a little nervous.

"We have never tried anything like this before, and I know that the world will be watching us. So, while I'm excited, I still have to have my fingers crossed."
