Uber says it is sorry for increasing prices during Sydney siege

  • San Francisco based taxi booking company Uber has said it is sorry for raising fare prices during the Sydney siege, as per media reports. The company had raised fares as terrified people were trying to flee a café where a gunman was holding hostages. It is reported that the company charged as much as four times more than its normal rates.

After users called Uber’s actions shameful, the company offered free rides out of the central business district.
