Twitter joins hands with advocacy group to tackle online harassment of women

  • Twitter has joined hands with an advocacy group to fight against online harassment of women.

Women, Action, and the Media (Wam), the not-for-profit advocacy group, says such harassment occurs at an “unprecedented” scale.

Wam executive director Jaclyn Friedman said women were getting harassed online “in a lot of different ways” and the technology firm’s current system of reporting harassment was inadequate.

A Pew study has shown that one-fourth of women in the 18 to 24 age group have been victims of online stalking.
