This ancient fish may be your ancestor

  • Scientists mentioned that minnow-sized fish Metaspriggina appears to have been the ancestor of almost all vertebrates.

Toronto Star noted that the fish was found to have gill arches that are believed to be "primitive precursors of the jaw."

"It was a major event in the evolution of vertebrates," the co-author of a report told the media. "After the creation of jaws, vertebrates were able to capture prey and food." Moreover, an expert called the fish an "early vertebrate" that hadn't been seen in the past.
