Saudi Arabia may end Twitter user anonymity

Saudi Arabia could end anonymity for Twitter users by limiting access to the site for people who register their identification documents, according to a report in the Arab News on Saturday.
The news comes after local media reported last week that the government had requested telecom companies to monitor and block free Internet phone services such as Skype.
Topics ranging from religion to politics are highly popular in Saudi Arabia, a country where such public discussion is often banned.
Last week, the country's Grand Mufti, Saudi Arabia's top cleric, described users of the microblogging site as "clowns" wasting time with frivolous and even harmful discussions”.
