Saudi Arabia blocks Viber messaging service
June 7 , 2013
Saudi Arabia has blocked the messaging application Viber.
Speaking to the BBC on Thursday, Talmon Marco, the head of the firm, said he did not why the decision had been taken, adding that the service would be restored soon.
Earlier this year, Saudi authorities warned that Viber and other encrypted messaging services such as Skype and Whatsapp would be blocked unless they provided a way to be monitored.
Marco said he had refused to provide the data required by Saudi officials.
As of now, Skype and Whatsapp are still working in Saudi Arabia.
