Samsung's Bid To Stay Galaxy Injunction Denied
July 4 , 2012
A California court turned down a request by Samsung Electronics Co. to stay the injunction against the sales of its much touted smartphone, the Galaxy Nexus. The preliminary injunction against the South Korean firm’s smartphone was a result of Apple’s request to freeze Galaxy Nexus sales, granted last week in San Jose, California, by US District Judge Lucy Koh.
This comes as a double blow to Samsung after Judge Koh turned down a similar request to stay the ban on sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the US on Monday. Samsung has been locked in a legal battle with Apple in over 10 countries of the world, with each tech giant accusing the other of patent violation. Apart from the district court, Samsung has also filed an appeal to get the injunction lifted with a federal appeals court in Washington DC.
