Rise in web attacks by hacktivists, says report

  • A new report says that the number of web attacks involving hacktivists and gamers has greatly increased in the past decade or so.

These attacks typically involve bombarding websites with data and knocking them offline.

The report, which has been compiled by the Arbor Networks, examines 10 years of web attacks known as distributed denial of service or DDoS.

Since such attacks are easy to carry out, they are a favorite with groups nursing a grudge, according to Arbor.
