RIM delays Blackberry 10 launch and slashes 5,000 jobs
June 29 , 2012
Blackberry maker Research in Motion (RIM) is to delay the launch of its new phone operating system Blackberry 10 and cut 5,000 jobs.
The confirmation of job losses, which RIM had warned of last month, came as the firm reported a $518 million net loss in the three months to 2 June.
That compares with a $695 million profit in the same period the previous year.
Revenue dropped 43 percent to $2.8 billions as sales of its smartphones fell for a second straight quarter.
