'Right to be forgotten': Google in talks with UK regulator over dozens of cases
May 14 , 2015
Search giant Google is engaged in talks with regulators concerning dozens of ‘right to be forgotten’ cases, reports say.
The UK Information Commissioner’s Office said that while it was hopeful of resolving the dispute during talks, it had enforcement powers if the negotiations failed.
An ICO spokesperson said that the organization had handled more than 180 complaints from “those unhappy with Google’s response to their takedown request.”
The tech firm was correct in turning down requests to have an individual’s information removed in three-fourth of these cases, he added.
