PointGrab to introduce touchless appliance control

  • Israeli company PointGrab is introducing a gesture-based system called PointSwitch, which will let users control appliances in their "smartkitchen" using eye and hand movements.

PointSwitch will help users keep their kitchens free of fingerprints and the handle-free area will allow for a much sleeker look. It will also make people's lives much simpler. For instance, the lights will turn on if you snap your fingers and the washer will begin working if you point at it. Although, it sounds quite unrealistic and futuristic, PointSwitch is already being developed and is expected to be ready in only a couple of weeks.

The company has already had success with gesture control in other devices such as laptops and Samsung TVs.
