Philips posts 38% rise in Q1 LED sales

Philips, the world's biggest lighting maker, has reported a 38 percent rise in first quarter LED sales compared to the same period last year.
The long-life and energy-efficient bulbs now make up 23 percent of its lighting sales.
The Dutch group said it made $201 million in the first three months of the year, beating market expectations.
The figures compare to a significant loss in the last three months of 2012.
