Online abuse case to begin in court

  • An important case of a British businessman, who wants malicious web content about him stopped from appearing in Google search results is due to start, according to media reports.

According to Daniel Hegglin, he has been falsely called a murderer and Ku Klux Klan sympathizer among other things as part of a malicious internet campaign targeting him. He says he wants Google to block such anonymous posts from the results of its search engine.

Google had asked him to give it a list of links that are to be removed, but the court will rule if the firm ought to do more.
