New telescope to be 10 times sharper than Hubble
August 26 , 2013
Scientists are currently working on a new telescope supposed be 10 times more sharp than the Hubble Space Telescope.
As of now, only one of the seven mirrors, each one of which weighs 20 tons and is 27 feet across, has been cast and polished. Hence, we would have to wait.
The project costs $700M and the VP coordinating the project said "we expect to be able to make observations and spectrographic studies of the first stars that formed after the Big Bang." He also said the question regarding the arrival of black holes will be answered.
The new optics system called MagAO has already been used by the astronomers to capture a picture of the two stars that they had always been unsuccessful at separating.
