New European police team to track and block ISIS social media accounts
June 22 , 2015
A new police team with members from various European nations is being created to trace and block web and social media accounts linked to the Islamic State militant group.
According to estimates, there are more than 45,000 ISIS-linked or ISIS-inspired Twitter accounts which help the group recruit new members.
The Europol (European police agency) will coordinate with certain social media firms in tracking these accounts, reports said.
Around 5,000 EU nationals are believed to have traveled to ISIS-controlled territories.
