'Most Earth-like' planet spotted

  • A new planet spotted by a telescope has been called the “most Earth-like” alien world by astronomers, according to media reports.

The planet, Kepler 438b, was one of eight added to the list by the Kepler telescope.

Before this, Kepler 186f was considered to be most like our planet, but Kepler 438b is likely to be even more similar to Earth, researchers believe.

Kepler 438b is 12 per cent bigger than Earth and is estimated to receive 40 per cent more heat from its sun as compared to what we receive from our sun, media reports said.
