August 12 , 2013
More than 100,000 people on Earth want to settle down on Mars and never come back. They've applied for the trip hoping to never return to Earth.
There are a number of questions regarding the Mars One project regarding finances and its not clear if people would even be able to survive on uncharted territory but all these worries haven't stopped about 30,000 Americans from applying.
Mars One CEO and co-founder, Bas Lansdorp hasn't specified the number of people who have paid the fees and completed their profiles. There is still a large number of people who have unfinished profiles.
Lansdorp said "the people that you can see online are only the ones that have finished and who have set their profiles as public."
