MIT Professor wins £1 million prize for pioneering work on medical technologies

  • Robert Langer, the man behind a number of innovative medical technologies, will be the latest recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.

    The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) professor won the £1 million prize for developing drug-release systems among other medical innovations.

    The Queen Elizabeth Prize celebrates innovators who have made a global impact.

    According to some estimates, around two billion people have benefited in some way by technologies pioneered by Langer and his teams, which often consist of researchers from varied disciplines.
