Missing children to be shown on 404 pages
September 28 , 2012
Website owners are being pushed to make better use of their 404 error pages by displaying images of missing children on them.
The initiative has been launched by the NotFound Project, set up by a number of European organizations such as Missing Children Europe and Child Focus.
Pictures and the biographical details of the missing children will be displayed when web users reach pages that have been moved or deleted. These would otherwise be empty pages displaying a ‘Not Found’ message.
NotFound is urging sites to add a snippet of code to the customized pages so that they display data about missing youngsters.
So far, around 480 sites have signed up to the initiative and reconfigured their 404 pages.
