Microsoft to shut down Windows Messenger on March 15
January 12 , 2013
Microsoft is to shut down its Windows Live Messenger service on March 15.
On that date Messenger log-ins will no longer work and users must turn to Skype, Microsoft said in an email sent to all Messenger users.
The service switch is the result of Microsoft's acquisition of Skype in October 2011 for $8.5billion.
China is the only country where Messenger will continue operating as it is run under licence there.
