Melbourne incident: All Apple store staff to undergo retraining

  • Apple chief executive Tim Cook has ordered that the company’s shop staff be retrained on “inclusion and customer engagement” following an incident in a store in Melbourne, Australia, which some commentators have called racial profiling.

A group of black teenagers was reportedly told to leave the Apple store because staff were concerned that they “might steal something”. A video of the controversial incident was uploaded on Facebook, and went viral.

In an email addressed to all Apple employees, Cook said what “people have seen and heard from watching the video on the web does not represent our values”.
