In one of the largest security breaches of its kind, JP Morgan Chase has said a computer hack had hit the accounts of some 76 million households and around seven million small businesses.
The hack was underway for some time and when the bank first disclosed it in August, it estimated that a million accounts were compromised. But the new disclosure reveals that the attack was much more serious.
According to JP Morgan Chase, one of the largest banks of the US, no financial information was stolen, but the hackers got hold of personal details such as names, phone numbers and email addresses.
