Lenovo offers patch to remove controversial hidden software

  • Lenovo is offering its customers a tool for helping them remove a controversial pre-installed software that may be a security risk.

The adware program called Superfish was installed on some notebooks of the Chinese computer manufacturer.

Lenovo initially said it had disabled the adware following customer complaints, but later indicated that it was focusing on fixing the security risk.

Apologizing to users, the firm said it was “learning from this experience” and had taken swift action to help users remove Superfish.
