Kickstarter gets hacked and asks users to change passwords
February 17 , 2014
Kickstarter got hacked last week and CEO Yancey Strickler advised users to change their passwords. "We strongly recommend that you create a new password for your Kickstarter account, and other accounts where you use this password," he said. "We're incredibly sorry that this happened. This incident is frustrating and upsetting."
The company hasn't mentioned the number of accounts that were affected but said "there is no evidence of unauthorized activity of any kind on all but two Kickstarter user accounts."
Reports suggest that credit card numbers stayed unaffected.
