Internet services resume in Damascus after blackout
December 2 , 2012
Internet services around Damascus resumed on Saturday following a two-day blackout.
Though the Syrian capital is back online, it is not yet clear how much Internet access there is elsewhere in the country.
Internet and cellphone communication was disrupted on Thursday.
The Syrian government had blamed "terrorists" for the disconnection.
The exact method used to cut off the Internet in Syria is still not known though security experts suggest ‘blackholing’ may be involved.
Blackholing is a tactic where Internet traffic is sent into a dead end instead of its intended destination.
