HTC launches two Windows phones
September 20 , 2012
HTC on Wednesday launched two smartphone models running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 software.
The devices will be available in November through multiple wireless service providers around the world.
The Windows Phone 8X and the Windows Phone 8S will see HTC directly compete against key Microsoft partner Nokia, which unveiled two Windows phone models earlier this month.
In recent years, both Nokia and HTC have lost a significant share of the market with the rise of Samsung and Apple.
According to industry analysts, HTC has a formidable task ahead as Apple reaches 2 million pre-orders of its latest iPhone before it hits shelves on September 21.
The success of HTC and Nokia’s Windows devices are vital for Microsoft, which has also lagged behind Apple and Google’s Android in the smartphone software market.
