HP's Meg Whitman earned $15.4 million in 2012
January 13 , 2013
Hewlett-Packard chief executive Meg Whitman earned nearly $15.4 million in 2012 as the company posted a net loss in her first full fiscal year in charge.
According to a proxy filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Whitman's base salary was just $1. Her bonus was $1.7 million while the remainder of her compensation was received in the form of stock options, stock awards and other income.
Her compensation came in at around 70 percent of previous targets.
Whitman, a former EBay executive, took over as chief executive in late 2011, at a time when the firm was hit by allegations of corporate espionage and sexual harassment.
Since taking over, Whitman has set out to turn around the hardware manufacturer fortunes, including plans to slash an estimated 29,000 jobs over the next two years.
Whitman is ranked 285th on the Forbes list of the top 400 richest people in America and sits at number 18 on the Forbes list of the World's 100 most powerful women.
