HP wins ruling in Itanium server case
August 2 , 2012
Hewlett-Packard has won a legal dispute in which it accused business software firm Oracle of failing to honor a contract to use its servers.
California Superior Court Judge James Kleinberg wrote that a contract exists between HP and Oracle, and that Oracle is required to continue to offer its product suite on HP's Itanium server platform.
Oracle will now have to port its products to the Itanium-based servers without charge to HP, the judge ruled.
