Half the world will be online this year, says UN report

  • Nearly half of the world’s population will be online by the end of 2015, a new study says.

Around 3.2 billion people will be using the internet by the end of the year, of which some 2 billion will be from developing countries, the report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN body, says.

The world’s current population is 7.2 billion.

However, less than 90 million of net users will be in the “least developed” countries such as Nepal and Somalia.
