July 22 , 2015
Anonymous, a hacktivist group, is stepping up its efforts aimed at targeting Twitter accounts sympathetic to the Islamic State militant group. It has published a list of such accounts that allegedly carry out pro-Islamic State propaganda. Many such accounts have been shut down or suspended after the action by Anonymous.
A study has shown that the militant group and its backers control over 90,000 Twitter accounts. Anonymous has also targeted blogs, Facebook pages and other sites that it believes are operated by Islamic State sympathizers.
