Groupon buys fashion site ideeli

  • Groupon announced that it has paid $43M to acquire sales fashion retailer ideeli.

Reports suggest that the site, which started in 2007, will operate separately and continue to maintain its headquarters in New York.

"Ideeli extends our fashion presence and brings great relationships with many of the top brands in apparel," CEO Eric Lefkofsky said. "Our customers have demonstrated appetite for these offers, and by broadening our reach in this space Groupon is even better positioned as the place you start when you want to do or buy just about anything, anytime, anywhere."

The deal has given Groupon expertise in fashion, which is "one of the top categories for e-commerce and it should keep growing," an analyst said.
