Government also uses lazy passwords
February 5 , 2014
It's no surprise that lazy humans use "password" as their personal passwords but a new report shows that sensitive government agencies do the same.
Agencies such as the IRS and Homeland Security use weak security, leaving their data vulnerable for cyber criminals.
"As a taxpayer, I'm outraged," the director of a cybereducation group said. "We're spending all this money and getting so little impact for it." Homeland Security is being criticized in particular since it's responsible for making sure that the rest of the agencies are secure.
A Columbia professor mentioned that the government should spend more money on IT workers in order to retain efficient employees.
