Google takes over Nasa airfield for research

  • The Google offshoot, Planetary Ventures, is taking over the management of the Nasa-owned Moffett Federal Airfield purportedly to boost space exploration and robotics research, according to media reports.

For the 60-year initial lease, Nasa will get $1.16 billion. A Nasa official said that as the agency “expands its presence in space” it is moving towards fewer “footprint here on Earth.”
