Google programmer rejects $500K

  • This tale may help students who are trying to figure out what they want to major in: A successful startup tried to hire a Google programmer by offering him $500,000 but the company learned that his current job paid $3M per year in cash and stock. 

    The executive mentioned that the programmer blew them off. 

    GlassDoor.com notes that most engineers at Google don't make as much money but the company doesn't hesitate to spend big money in order to retain talent. Forbes noted that Silicon Valley has better engineers than the National Security Agency.
