Google is a 'platform for piracy,' says News Corp

  • News Corp Chief Executive Robert Thomson has called Google a “platform for piracy” and urged for action, in unusually strong remarks to the European commission, as per media reports.

In a letter to Joaquín Almunia, the competition commissioner, Thomson said the internet search giant was being used to spread “malicious networks,” adding that the Google founders’ vision was now replaced by a “cynical management.”

News Corp, which publishes the Times and the Wall Street Journal, is owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch.
