Google hosts a coding party

  • Google is making an effort to reduce the gender imbalance noticed at the company and the industry as a whole by addressing reasons as to why women don't enter the field of computer science.

Actress Mindy Kaling was the host of the event that launched Made With Code. "It was really powerful for the girls in the room, some of whom have never coded, to see the connection between art, music, dance -- the things they love -- and coding," CEO of Girls Who Code Reshma Saujani said, adding that the company is attempting to build a movement,

"We're trying to reach millions of girls and teach them to code. We have a lot of work to do. This is just the beginning."
