Germany mulling $5,500 incentive to promote sale of electric cars

German authorities, led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, proposed handing incentives up to $5,500 to boost sale of electric cars across the nation and help achieve the goal of bringing 1 million such variants onto its roads by 2020. A committee was formulated to discuss the feasibility of car manufactures co-financing the aforesaid incentives. To make this work, Germany has pledged to invest heavily towards construction of over 16000 electric car charging stations.
