'FREAK attack': Apple, Google users face hacking risk

  • A vulnerability called the “FREAK attack” may have left millions of people susceptible to hacking attacks while surfing the internet on Google and Apple devices.

Though there is no evidence yet that these flaws have been exploited by hackers, the companies are scrambling to repair them.

According to some experts, a US government policy requiring American software developers to use weaker security for encryption programs that were sold overseas may have led to the problem.

The government policy is no longer operational.
