Danny Lewin, was reportedly the first victim of the tragedy that happened 12 years ago in New York City. The Internet genius, whose story just recently came to light was born in Denver and served as a commando for the Israeli Defense Force after attending technology school. Lewin eventually got offered admission and full scholarship at MIT.
One of his professors at the school commented on how Lewin stood out amongst the extremely smart people at the institution. The Internet genius who attempted to make the delivery for web content more efficient by writing algorithms for the same, had been on the American Airlines Flight 11 for a business meeting on Sept. 11.
Given his knowledge of arabic as well as his training, reports suggest that Lewin, who was 31 at the time, could have been suspicious before anyone else during the hijack. Hence, he got up and struggled with one of the men who were responsible for the attack.
As per the reports issued four years later and the information provided by two of the flight attendants, Satam al-Suqami killed Lewin by slashing his throat. His death occurred between 8:15 am and 8:20 am. The plane crashed into the WTC at 8:46 am.
Lewin's best friend called him "the first victim of the first war of the 21st century."
