FireChat introduces new way to communicate
April 7 , 2014
A new smartphone app called FireChat is making it possible for users to communicate with one another even when they don't have access to an Internet connection or cellular service.
FireChat is expected to release on the iPhone in just two weeks and reports suggest that the app uses a technology known as wireless mesh networking, which could allow several devices to connect like a chain.
"We are trying to create networks built by the people for the people," maker of FireChat app Micha Benoliel said. The development of the app was inspired by other messaging services such as Snapchat and WhatsApp, which let people communicate with their friends and family without paying their carriers.
