Facebook acquires cybersecurity start-up

  • Facebook has announced the acquisition of PrivateCore, a cybersecurity start-up that makes software to protect data in servers, as per media reports.

The firm was founded two years ago and has technology to protect servers “from persistent malware, unauthorized physical access, and malicious hardware devices,” according to Facebook’s Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan.

Oded Horovitz, the chief executive of PrivateCore, said the deal would provide both firms with “a huge opportunity” to implement their joint vision.
