Electronic Arts, Disney sign Star Wars games deal
May 7 , 2013
Electronic Arts and Walt Disney have signed a multi-year licensing deal that will see the video game publisher create games for mobile devices, PCs and consoles based on the Star Wars films.
Disney acquired George Lucas's Lucasfilm and the blockbuster sci-fi franchise for $4.05 billion in October.
It will retain the rights to develop online and mobile games, according to a statement released by both companies on Monday.
Disney, which has its own interactive games division, last month closed the 30-year-old LucasArts games studio inherited with the acquisition to focus on licensing the Star Wars brand externally.
