Did Apple 'delete' rival services' music from iPods?

  • Technology giant Apple allegedly "deleted" rival services’ music from iPods in the last 10 years, a court has been told, according to media reports.

Users having non-iTunes music received messages asking them to restore the devices to factory settings while making attempts to sync them, lawyers told the court.

Apple stated that the step was a legitimate one taken for security purposes. The firm’s security director said the error message was vague because Apple was trying not to “confuse” users with excess information.
