Cut submarine cable leaves Bangladesh without Internet
June 9 , 2012
Internet users in Bangladesh are facing major service disruptions after a submarine cable was cut.
The accident, which occurred earlier this week some 40 miles away from Singapore’s coast, affected the SEA-ME-WE 4 optical fiber system that runs from France to Malaysia.
India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore also rely on the cable involved but have been able to route traffic via other connections.
No explanation has been given for the accident, which could take up to a week to repair.
