June 27 , 2012
Cisco Systems chief strategy officer Ned has resigned and will be replaced by chief technology officer Padmasree Warrior, the company said on its website.
Hooper, a 13-year Cisco veteran and touted as a top contender to be CEO, oversaw the $3.4 billion deal for Norwegian video conferencing company Tandberg as well as the $5 billion acquisition of the pay-TV smartcard maker NDS.
Warrior, who joined Cisco in 2007 from Motorola, will remain CTO in addition to her new role.
The networking equipment maker set out on a major reorganization last year in a bid to boost efficiency. The move included a 15 percent cut in its work force.
