Chinese handset maker Xiaomi's revenue doubled in 2014

  • Chinese technology firm Xiaomi’s revenue more than doubled last year, the handset maker announced, according to media reports.

    A week ago the company had been named the most valuable technology start-up in the world.

    Xiaomi earned $11.97 billion in pre-tax sales in 2014, a 135% increase from 2013.

    It sold 61 million phones in 2014, a 227% increase from 2013. It has become the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, with only Samsung and Apple now ahead of it.
