Chinese hackers access US weapons systems designs
May 29 , 2013
Chinese hackers have obtained the designs for US weapons systems, according to a report in the Washington Post on Tuesday.
The designs for around two dozen weapons systems, including combat aircraft, ships and missile defences were among those accessed.
Designs for the F/A-18 fighter jet, V-22 Osprey aircraft, Black Hawk helicopter and the Navy's new Littoral Combat Ship were also included.
The extent of the theft was not detailed in the report but the incident may provide information that could be used against the U.S. in a future conflict.
The report by the Washington Post follows the Australian government’s revelation that Chinese hackers stole floor plans for the new headquarters of its intelligence agency.
