China to allow video game consoles
January 8 , 2014
China forbid the sale of video games consoles back in 2000 due to worries about the nation's youth. Reports suggest that Beijing isn't worried anymore and has lifted the ban on Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.
Reuters notes that the country still faces two issues: The youth in China is used to playing PC games for free and gamers don't really make much money.
"If Sony and Microsoft want to expand in China they need to think of changing their business model and study the success of Internet gaming market providers, where games are free but they charge money from operating games," an industry analyst said.
